2014 HB 72 would raise minimum wage

Published on 30 December, 2013 by Elizabeth

HB 72, sponsored by Delegate Haynes, proposes to raise the minimum wage from $6.15/hr. to $12.50/hr.  The bill reads, in part:

(b) Except as provided in § 3–414 of this subtitle, each employer shall pay:
(1) to each employee who is subject to both the federal Act and this subtitle, at least the greater of:
(i) the minimum wage for that employee under the federal Act; or
(ii) a wage that equals a rate of [$6.15] $12.50 per hour

($12.50 replaces $6.15 in brackets)
