2015 MD SB 723/HB 999 are the Nurse Practitioner Full Practice Authority Act of 2015, sponsored by Senator Conway and Delegate Cullison. The bill repeals a section of the MD Health Occupations code that requires a Nurse Practitioner have an, “agreement for collaboration and consulting with a physician licensed under Title 14 of [Article 8-302] and will refer to and consult with physicians and other health care providers as needed…”, allowing more consumer freedom.
Added to Article 8-302 (changes in CAPS, items in brackets removed):
(5) 2. A nurse practitioner [will] SHALL practice in accordance with the standards of practice of the American [Academy] ASSOCIATION of Nurse Practitioners or any other national certifying body recognized by the Board.
